Product Overview

The ALUX 12V22AH is a 12 V 22 Ah gel battery in the 12 V Gel Solar Series, built in a 181 × 77 × 167 mm case and weighs 5.1-6 kg. The electrolyte is held in fumed silica rather than liquid acid, so the battery is sealed, spill-proof and maintenance-free, and it can be cycled deeply day after day without the acid stratification that shortens flooded lead-acid life. It is specified for solar and off-grid duty, where a PV array charges the battery and the load draws it down again every day.

Key Features

  • Gel electrolyte, sealed VRLA — the sulphuric acid is immobilised in fumed silica, so the battery cannot spill, needs no water top-up and can be installed upright or on its side in a cabinet.
  • Deep-cycle plates — machine-cast, heavy-duty grids with a thicker positive plate take daily charge and discharge without the rapid capacity loss of a float-only battery.
  • Low self-discharge — a charged battery holds its charge through months of storage, which suits seasonal and standby duty.
  • Recombination and safety valve — gas recombines inside the case and an EPDR valve releases pressure only in fault conditions.
  • Flame-retardant case option — the ABS container is rated UL94-HB as standard, with a UL94-V0 flame-retardant version available on request.
  • Solar-tuned charging — the series is specified for PV charge controllers and daily partial-state-of-charge cycling rather than only float service.
